The Kevin Buchanan Story [Where it all Started]
Passionate and Driven for success.
Kevin Buchanan always enjoyed his time spent in the kitchen behind the stove and the oven, mixing and creating ideas just as quick as he mixed and created new recipes in the kitchen. One day, it hit him like a blow to the chest: why wasn't he taking these ideas to the real world and making a living off of them? Sure, they say that restaurant life doesn't bring much of a living and who wants to spend hours upon hour at the nearest local diner slaving over the summer heat pouring sweat or long days in the winter cheffing it up for a little more than minimum wage? But, to become a world chef? That is the question.
Moving from a rough time in his life out in Chicago, Buchanan relocated to Fort Valley, Georgia, where he found a life. He bought a trailer and turned it into a food cart, after he purchased a grill from a friend named Eddie and installed a hand-wash sink into the food cart. This would become his legendary mark to make a change in the neighborhood for hungry stomachs all around. So, he and some local friends decided to give the truck a spin selling jerk chicken, ribs, sausage, pork chops, fried rice, and different varieties of sandwiches amongst other great eats.
Kevin Buchanan, who's also known now around the places he visits as "Chef" or Chef Buchanan, has decided to step up another notch and introduce this original food cart to the web. As of today, Chef Buchanan has over 100 different types of jerk sauce and is ready to bring this food cart anywhere in the world to please communities all over. Chef is now creating an entire jerk empire, and to think that it all started with a simple hand-built food cart only a few small years ago.
He took over the kitchen at Fort Valley State University during the months of September 2012 to March of 2013, cooking for the entire school campus and teaching them new techniques, ideas, and recipes on how to create hundreds of plates in a shortened time to feed everybody in an allotted time-frame. He was even featured in the local newspaper for his different styles of not only Jamaican cooking, but cooking of all different cultures worldwide.
